Mica's Fiscal Watchdog Claims Contradicted by His Actions in House
Authors Bill That Will Cost American Taxpayers $270 Million; Claims There is "No Other Priority for the Balance of My Tenure in Congress"
Orlando, FL – Twenty-year Washington politician John Mica's recent efforts to highlight spending abuses at the General Services Administration (GSA) are dwarfed by his authorship of legislation that is estimated to cost American taxpayers $270 million. While all fiscal conservatives should root out wasteful spending by government bureaucrats, Mica’s efforts are at the height of hypocrisy. As he publicly calls for investigations into the GSA’s excessive spending, the self-proclaimed fine art lover has been behind the scenes championing his own government waste. The $270 million project is so important to Mica that he has claimed that he has “no other priority for the balance of my tenure in Congress.”
"John Mica has consistently proven to Central Floridians that he should not be taken at his word,” said spokeswoman Lisa Boothe. “As he publicly highlights excessive spending at federal agencies, he has hypocritically been championing his own government waste to satisfy his personal love of fine art. Mica even claimed that his $270 million project was his number one priority in Congress. Central Florida voters are acutely aware that actions speak louder than words, and while Mica has been advancing his own personal agenda at the taxpayer’s expense, Sandy Adams has been fighting for Central Floridians.”
